SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 18

Designating February 13, 2002, as "Law-enforcement Appreciation Day".

Whereas, Citizens of West Virginia should pause to consider the men and women of law enforcement who daily place their lives in danger for our safety; and
Whereas, The men and women of law enforcement have dedicated themselves to the communities they serve and have trained efficiently to perform their duties; and
Whereas, Sadly, there are many law-enforcement officers who pay the ultimate price and are killed in the line of duty; and
Whereas, It is fitting that we pay tribute to the men and women of law enforcement whose dedication and commitment to protect and serve our citizens go unnoticed in our daily lives; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby designates February 13, 2002, a "Law- enforcement Appreciation Day" as an expression of our gratitude for the outstanding task law-enforcement officers perform on a daily basis for our safety and protection; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate is proud of the men and women who put their lives on the line daily and who live up to the creed "To protect and serve" the citizens of their communities; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to appropriate representatives of law enforcement.
